Crows/ravens/vultures in the Everglades damage rubber moldings on parked cars. There are signs in parking lots warning visitors. Birds pulling at things with their beaks seems like dogs chewing or people talking, an innate capability that the animals seek to exercise. Maybe moving/dropping stones is something similar. Maybe it's play.
