More Steve Goodman

Wow, that's very different from David Allan Coe's version. Here it plays as a robust parody of country music; the swinging guitar, played high up on the neck; the mime'd fiddle. Coe played it straight until the last verse, where the joke comes clear.

Coe was better, though. He brings out the honest pain of unrequited love that Goodman only mocks. That isn't nearly everything that country music is about, but it's a real thing that really hurts. Country music is best when it works on those realities.

I don't see a link to the song. Perhaps my android phone can't show it? Seems like I only have this problem with blogspot.

It should be the video itself, so I think the problem is on your end, and it may be your interface with blogspot. But here's the link, because I don't want you to do without https://youtu.be/8QUSQJQml40

Thank you sir! One of the great song writers of our time, lost way too early.

Mike, my iPhone also doesn't show YouTube videos on Blogspot sites. I had thought it was my browser settings, as I use either the DuckDuckGo browser or Brave. YouTube has a lot of tracking, and those privacy-centric browsers might be blocking it for that reason. Or it could be something about how Blogspot is coded for mobile sites.

At the bottom of a phone display of AVI's site is a link "View web version". Click/press on that. It brings up a page that looks a lot more like the computer browser's version (albeit much harder to read). The YouTube video displays, and plays, on that.

That was fun. I like it as well as I like David Allan Coe's version though it's harder to sing along with. Coe's version was a favorite at family BBQ karaoke nights.

James:

Yes, that works for me. Thus I infer it must be a compatibility issue with blogspot's mobile version code and Youtube.

I figure the mobile code is optimized for speed and visibility, and drops/modifies a lot of things. They're available if you want them, but I'd guess they'd get more user satisfaction out of optimizing the youtube app separately than a complex integrated system. I'm surprised that the embedded video is simply absent, rather than appearing as a link to bring up the app.
