I don't recall The Little Black Egg song, but Gloria is seared into my brain, from high school era dances. A local band composed of my high school peers had Gloria on its playlist. It was a pretty good band, well advanced from the "garage rock" stage, though covers were all it played. Covers were what its customers wanted to hear. Two of the band members spent most of their subsequent careers as professional musicians- though they didn't get rich from music.
"The Little Black Egg" doesn't ring a bell with me, either. G-L-O-R-I-A sticks in my head like the "El-loh, El-lay" of Lola. LIke the sound of Les Etats-Unis.
