The first thing I heard him a play was a copy of Chet Atkins' Caravan. My linked version only alludes to its roots. However, the longer story is that as a young guitarist, Van Duser followed Chet Atkins from vinyl records, and tried to copy the sound. What he didn't know was the Chet had a digital reverb machine, so when Chet played one note, the machine added another, like an echo.
