Like I said: Saying the quiet part out loud. Can't understand why folks don't like this.
Also by Chekhov, and even less generous of spirit. "There is nothing more awful, insulting, and depressing than banality." I think that a lot.

Doubling down despite the vision.
Never been a Chekhov fan. The quote I know him for is, "If you show a gun in act 1, you must use it by act 3". Why? If I show a moose head in act 1, do I have to use that by act 3? Guns are a hell of a lot more common than moose heads.
