White Supremacy

So Merrick Garland has just proven he is not qualified to be a Supreme Court Justice. A political, not a judicial temperament.

Just proven? Hasn't Garland been giving us proof for months? We should all give Mitch a big thank-you for not taking action on Obama's nomination. Recall that the Democrat narrative at the time was that Obama had nominated a "moderate" with Garland. I am reminded of certain trolls' use of the word "moderate."

Perhaps he has a pre-judicial temperament?

You didn't provide the context. How so?

(This doesn't excuse not holding hearings on his nomination for the Supreme Court, though. That's where issues such as temperament are examined.)

I don't have enough to go on, but, for once, I have to agree with Zachriel that context could help me understand this post.

Garland stated yesterday that white supremacists are the top domestic security threat. I can't imagine he believes anything that ludicrous, so I conclude it is a calculated political statement with no needed truth values. It seems nearly a direct opposite to how a judge should approach things.

Garland was expressing the findings of investigators charged with responding to domestic security threats.

Trump-appointed Director of the FBI, September 2020: "What I can tell you is that, within the domestic terrorism bucket category as a whole, racially-motivated violent extremism is, I think, the biggest bucket within that larger group, and within the racially-motivated violent extremists bucket, people subscribing to some kind of white supremacist-type ideology is certainly the biggest chunk of that."

So Garland was just reading the news, eh? That's a special kind of pathetic.

@ Aggie. I would go one step more subtle and even worse. He used to be one of the members of the vast horde who indirectly make the news that 40% of the populace believes reflexively. He is now one of the nomenklatura and makes the news directly. He declares that the 300 white supremacists in the country are somehow the danger despite the 30+ killed as a result of the summer protests - including, BTW, children - and that becomes a fact, because the fully-discredited FBI says so. Galahad Comey turned out to be Mordred. (Injuries to police do not matter.)

Fifty years ago the liberals would tell you that the CIA and the FBI were the devil. Or at least they were cynical about them- recall LBJ's crack about having J Edgar inside the tent. Now the liberals tell us that the hand of God guides the CIA and the FBI. That's why the FBI doesn't need to record interviews. The hand of God writes agents' notes. Did having a CIA director vote once for the CPUSA candidate for President (Brennan did so in 1976) change the liberals' minds about the CIA? (snarc, snarc)

It was good enough for Obama. I guess they have that in common.

No. He was stating investigatory findings.

You are taking the most extreme views of a set to paint the entire set as extreme. (Ronald Reagan is on the political right. Hitler is on the political right. Ronald Reagan is Hitler.) There is no doubt that the FBI has sometimes exceeded its authority, especially with regards to surveillance. That does not mean that everything they do is of "the devil."

In any case, the Attorney General expressing the findings of the Director of the FBI (appointed by Trump), is hardly an indication of "a political, not a judicial temperament."
