I did not like much of the 1977 movie, but I think some of Orson Bean's voice went into my Bilbo. It changed quickly, though, and I can't much detect it now.
I always thought it was a highly effective redaction. Everything that happens advances the plot. Shame they cut Beorn, though it leaves ‘the Eagles are coming’ as the climactic moment in both the Hobbit and LotR.
