Health Care Costs

As usual, whatever your favorite soap box is, Bethany's new post over at Graph Paper Diaries will give you something.  Increasing Health Care Costs are not Like Other Cost Increases.  I usually find her posts give me new ammunition for some favorite idea but also redirect my thinking away from other, dumber opinions of mine. Comments are already getting good.

Update 1/16/26:  I have an annoying pop-up which keeps asking things like "Why does it cost $20 for an aspirin at a hospital?" claiming that they are ripping us off.  I was in an ER today.  Do you want someone to push you in a wheelchair to your CT scan or would you rather risk walking? Is Housekeeping to disinfect the surfaces a good thing? When someone is screaming and threatening two rooms down, do you like having Security outside their door? That cup of ice chips? Registration?  Med records? Infection control? Meal delivery? Plowing the parking lot? None of those are billable services.

Idiot. The biggest wastes are extra tests because of lawsuits and Medicaid fraud, like umm, Minnesota. If it's such a great gig, get in on it and work at a hospital and make bank, dude.
