Similarities

I have heard of the show, and there were posters and souvenirs about it all over Northern Ireland, but i don't really know it.

The humor is a little overobvious here, but it's still fun.

It's an extremely tacky show with low humor, populated with unlikable characters. Very much in the category of "cringe humor", like The Office (British), and shades of Father Ted. And yet, I find it extremely funny. Enough so, that I will probably get a Netflix subscription for just long enough to watch the whole run, and the new Asterix show, too. There's a lot of heart to it, and the characters, while often awful, are genuine and human, and usually get enough of what they want, but also a lot of what they deserve.

I know this is the time and place the creator grew up in, and while I know only the conventional American knowledge of what was going on, I'm told it's accurate, and it feels genuine.

I heard enough stories about events like this that I believe it really happened (and note the jittery camera work, so it feels like you're really on the bus):
