Epstein

I should point out that I'm laying blame at Theo's feet more than Francona's.  Just for the record.

I listen to "Baseball Today" podcast. It comes from ESPN. One of the regular contributors is a guy by the name of Keith Law. He has been involved in the front office of a Major League team is and is one of ESPN's top guy for identifying up and coming players in college and the minors. One of his comments about the Red Sox in that last few years is that they are very good with their top 3 or 4 picks in the draft and then terrible in the later rounds. This is definitely something that is laid at the feet of the front office. And after a great run with Youkilis, Pedroia and Ellsbury for position players and Buckholz and Lester for pitchers, where are the fruits of the minor league system in the last couple of years?
