We will be in Newport RI to see the Christmas displays, back late Sunday. It is supposed to be cold and rainy, which might be a difficulty for the tour of the outdoor lights at The Breakers. We may have to give the Cliff Walk a pass.
Neither of us have ever been to Newport at Christmas, and we thought...
...and then I thought "Aaiieee! Bucket List!" That didn't go so well this summer, did it? I can't say this is actually something we have long awaited, though. We just realised we had never done it...(wincing) but does that really matter in embracing new um, experiences we have done just fine without until now? And this is a substitute for a party in Manhattan we get invited to every year but never go to, so this is actually replacing a bucket list item. We were going to be country mice among some powerful and likely wealthy people. Shouldn't the Fates cut us a break for that reason?

Having been in Newport 3 or 4 times in last couple of years, the likelihood of running into movers & shakers approaches zero. Whoever is there at Xmas will be busy with family in their large homes on the water, or at endless get-togethers at friends homes. Enjoy the vacation.
That was Manhattan
