Many of my friends and I are the last of the Baby Boomers, so dealing with elderly parents who are adamant about remaining in a home they can't possibly maintain, rather than making the logic choice to move to some version of elder-care.
The accommodations under consideration have splendid facilities and activities, but are quite expensive, costing between $4000 and $6000 per month. When the house is sold, money won't be an issue.
My friends and I think that a retirement home looks pretty good. You have your own little apartment, housekeeping comes in once per week, meals are provided in the restaurant or you can cook for yourself and there are planned activities going on all the time. If you've got good internet, what's the downside?
We are all baby boomers who went to college. Most of our parents did not. I wonder if we will be different our time comes.

That's an interesting take. Previous generations also had much worse associations of "being sent to a home" when folks got old.
So one institution helps people enjoy free, independent and fulfilling lives, and the other often has a football team?
One of them offers assistance in living a healthy life, and the other offers an experience that doesn't always lead to such a thing.
