It is not fatigue simply as such that produces the anger, but unexpected demands on a man already tired. Whatever men expect they soon come to think they have a right to: the sense of disappointment can, with very little skill on our part, be turned into a sense of injury. So I wonder how the US feels today about the rather strong reaction of the Taiwanese population in their latest election.
The DPP, the US's partner in opposing One China, was handily defeated by the Kuomintang party which which supports rapprochement with mainland China.
So some serious expectations are now dashed, and I suspect the US will react with a sense of injury. ;)
I seem to remember that you might be Canadian. Let me assure you that almost no American is aware that Taiwan had an election recently, or who the parties to the contest were, or what they wanted. Almost no Americans are aware that the World Cup is now happening in the slave state known as Qatar, where our 5th Fleet is forward-headquartered; or that we have a 5th fleet.
Someone somewhere might care, but it is not the US.
Oh. I am talking about the CIA. The people who run your country, they care a great deal. ;)
