Winner of the 1967 Grammy for "Best Contemporary Song" in the "rock and roll" category.
The other finalists were Eleanor Rigby – Paul McCartney Good Vibrations – Beach Boys Last Train To Clarksville – Monkees Monday, Monday – Mamas And The Papas
That is marvelous. I just learned this year that "Last Train to Clarksville" was a disguised war protest, BTW. I had always wondered why if he loved her so much he didn't know if he was ever coming home. Same with "Leaving on a Jet Plane." He doesn't know if he'll be back, but when he does he'll marry her? Now it adds up.
