There are wild claims left and right about daycare helping the whole country and economy versus damaging children to the point of trauma. What have we learned to expect around here about the effects of childhood interventions? Yes, you there in the back? Correct. They seldom matter in the long run.

My understanding is that at least part of it depends on the child. Some kids do well in daycare, and others don't. You get all sorts of personalities even in a homogenous group, and not all of them are going to gel. Some kids do better in one-on-one situations than in groups. And then there's kids with various special needs, and that brings in its own set of issues that daycare centers may or may not be equipped to handle.
