At least at the Trivial Pursuit level, you can reframe most questions as 'name a famous'. I think a good heuristic is also the more detailed the clue the more obvious the answer.

My family loved trivial pursuit when it first came out and because of a wide age range we chose teams. That soon morphed into my brother vs everyone else and we changed the rules to make it as hard as possible on him - he had to answer an entire card correctly to win... and he usually did. It was still fun. There are a few restaurants here that have trivia nights and it's a fun night out for us. We seldom win, but we're usually in the top five. They bring me along for "older" things, though I had to be adamant last week in my answer of what the "I" meant in FDIC.
