Illusion of Reason

"We give reason full credit for a decision that is the collective outcome of separate votes cast by cold personal self-interest, passion and social conformity, individual intuitions and hunches, and even our biological heritage." Razib Khan "Thanksgiving Squabbles are a Feature, Not a Bug"

Ouch. I thought I made logical decisions but guess not. I do try to distinguish between logic and my emotions, but I don't always succeed. Although, it is easy to do it to another person. It is really easy to see that another person isn't logical but emotional or self-interested.

Its worth reading Nasreddin, the 12 century Sufi who made such a wonderful, off kilter, hash of reason.
