Gospel People

The long intro is what we hurry away from on Youtube, but it's part of the genre. Whether you think it's a southern thing, a black expression, a quartet standard, or a revival form, it's still just not optional. You have to take the extra minute or two to adjust your mind to the slowness and the build.

It's probably good for you, believer or not.

OK Dr. AVI, if you say so!

Sorry, I still skip it. But it was a great number when they got started. My heart gives a little skip of joy every time they all three break into the side-step.

That intro feels something like Give Me That Old-Time Religion, or maybe Give Me That Old-Time Gospel Singing.

I think you have to want to get to the music to listen through the intro. Or you have to share in the lead guy's attitude, that the better Gospel singing doesn't start with a showy introduction.
