Turing Test

Or whatever-it's-called, the double entry we now have on Blogger to prove we aren't robots when we comment.  I think the letters are often ambiguous, and are in any event irritating.  I will poke around and see if I can eliminate word verification altogether, but I'll bet not.

I note that I have actually been getting more spam the past few weeks, rather than less.

Captcha or some such thing. A pain, and I suspect there's a timeout involved because even clear answers don't always work.

There was a rumor that one organization was scanning old texts and letting the "captcha" try to decode the muddy fragments for them when ocr didn't do the job. A cool idea, but this obviously isn't it.

FWIW, I got an email the other day explaining how much the sender liked Assistant Village Idiot and would I like to partner it with their site. Anybody else get that one?

I was starting to wonder if it was just me, or if age was bringing me some kind of neuro-deficit, because I often find the letters ambiguous and spend 2-3 tries getting the machine to acknowledge my humanity.
