Aggie -- there is a big turntable that is the same flooring material and level with the stage-floor. The piano (and bench) is nearish one edge, often the dancers are lined up _just_ at the edge of the turntable next to the piano.
One can occasionally see dancers on the turntable with dancers in-front-of or behind them off the turntable.
They've done an awfully good job with filming of hiding the edge of the turntable.
Somehow learning that the performers on-stage with Liberace were a vocal group known as "The Youngfolk" has made the "Hello Youngfolk, what'cha doin'" line much less objectionable to me.
A few years after this, I was wearing trousers identical to what the men are wearing. I'm strongly suspicious that they were actually sewn by my mother for an older sister and were hand-me downs to pre-schooler me.
We also had identical vinyl flower decals applied to our galvanized steel trash-cans, in order to identify and retrieve them more easily when windy days sent the empties wandering. I'd love to find similar decals now, to make my wife's VW SUV easier to identify in parking lots.
It's almost as awkward as that time on Lawrence Welk when they brought out the fresh-faced, clean-cut youthful singers to give their rendition of 'One Toke Over the Line Sweet Jesus', thinking it was a good Christian song. I knew kids like this growing up and always suspected some of them were having a hard time playing it straight on camera.
