South Sudan

Pray that it goes well in Sudan from here. 99% turnout, 99% in favor of secession. (Christian Science Monitor photo)

I received an e-mail from my friend, Peter Nhiany, who was in Sudan for the vote. He said the vote was 99.57% for separation (Peter likes to be specific!). He says everyone is celebrating and looking forward to becoming the Africa's newest country in July. Of course, they also fully realize they have a long way to go to get the country on its feet. Because of the decades of war, there are only about 25 miles of paved road in all of South Sudan. Lot's of challenges facing them.

And now they have to decide on borders--and that'll be the sticking point. Pray.

Off topic: your link "Albion's Seed" goes to a site that seems to have been inactive for years. email to you bounced.

Yeah, I kept Albion's Seed through the last cut because the last article is still interesting. But I thought a bit about it.

The computer was screwy last night and we couldn't get on to email at all. I did a scan, but I don't know if that's what fixed things.
