UN Aid to Hamas

United Nations relief went to the leaders and not the citizens, according to the Jerusalem Post. The Israelis presented recorded evidence to the US, but Biden insisted all 250 trucks of aid go anyway.

I don't have a lot of confidence that anything will much work in Gaza.  But why on earth do we think that Trump is going to do any worse?

Well, the plan to take ownership of Gaza reminds me rather strongly of JFK's decision to take over in Vietnam from the French. It also reminds me of the British military deciding to deploy in Belfast because the local authorities couldn't keep a lid on things. In both cases, the new guys got the brunt of decades of war.

Of course, Trump says they're going to move everybody out first. That idea has a number of issues too. I think the ethnic cleansing of Gaza will probably happen sooner or later, may indeed be unavoidable pragmatically, and might even be better for the population of Gaza than remaining in Israel in the long term. Nevertheless, I don't see why the United States should want to take part in it.

Never ask "Could things get worse?" The answer is always yes. I hope the proposal is a bluff.
