I Coulda Been a Contender

There were a lot of things I could have been, should have been.  The Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25 has always been an accusation to me. Sometimes, the fault does lie in others, and the position they have put us in.

Sometimes, it was just that we chose one thing instead of another and could not have both.

But mostly, we want it to be someone else's fault. Or at least, that is what I find in myself.  I could prove it to you if you gave me the time.

I think it's significant that the Master didn't find fault with the one who made less than the most, and that he's included in the examples. He only chastised the one who didn't even try.
