(I'm aware that there are some raising funds for malaria, but they're not highly visible.) Whether you can compare chlamydia with AIDS is not the point. The point is that there are trendy diseases that get a lot of support.
Personally, I think it's just because our society is so prosperous that we have time and money to burn following trends in diseases.

Chlamydia isn't fatal and is easily treatable with antibiotics.
