Well, copithorne, our ancestor Stephen Hopkins was the ne'er-do-well of the crew, wasn't he? And I agree that Philbrick's book is excellent. A balanced account, it seemed, looking neither to exonerate or condemn anyone, but simply tell the story.

My schooling didn't include King Philip. Had to google it to find out who he was.
I recently read Nathaniel Philbrick's Mayflower book which narrates King Philip's war.
