I've observed that some colleagues and co-workers are extremely good at building rapport with clients, bosses, upper administration, guests, etc.; and that my skills in this area are small in comparison. Many of the same folks, I've learned, also golf with some of the folk whose good-will is critical to their success. I'm quite confident that I don't know the direction of causation here, but in my world there does seem to be (in my limited observation) a correlation between those who golf and some of those who advance rapidly up the pay and responsibility scale.

Tiger Woods?
Well, that was his actual job. I'm not sure that fits.
Probably some political lobbyists did.
