Colonel Bruce Packard, 1936-2021. The obituary says he served 25 years, but that is a misprint, it was 35 years. It mentioned he liked to talk politics, but doesn't mention that he considered himself "slightly to the right of Genghis Khan." I sang in choir and men's chorus with him, mostly years ago, and had him in a few of my Sunday School classes. He could only get about with the aid of a walker in his last few years but would arrive early enough to get back to the last row of the choir with the other baritones, pushing himself quite hard despite the discomfort. He was fun to be with back there - except when he felt others weren't taking things seriously enough. A formidable memory.
