I just happened upon this and there may be something I missed, but I think I see an opportunity for genuine multiculturalism here, not just the "I know more about Peruvian food than you do" type.
There is a lot of advice on what to do when visiting Houston. Such as Odetta's version, which is when I first heard Midnight Special.

I would also advise a visit to
Marini's:The Original Argentinian-Style Empanada House. Way out on Westheimer, with a branch in Katy. Back in the day, it was on Westheimer in Montrose, before it burned down.
