I brought it up to illustrate the difference between voting for the horrible Trump vs. the Democrats who cannot bring themselves to even mention how much stuff will cost. We are in no real danger that Donald Trump will become a fascist overlord, despite the hyperventilating. The danger of overspending and creating long-term economic problems that will hit the poor and middle class hard, however, is not unforeseeable.
If we arre rolling the dice, I want the relative risks to be clear.
I had some grumpy thoughts on running out of money a dozen years ago. Several things have changed in the interim (e.g. fracking) and if I were writing it today I would, at a minimum, reformat for easier readability.
Well, Trump has made some sounds about budget cutting, but his latest budget doesn’t do anything of the sort. And the Democrats certainly won’t. Someday we’ll have to make hard decisions, but it ain’t gonna be 2020.

ReplyDeleteI was thinking more of the proposals for new spending, many in the trillions of dollars.
