OWU

I just saw a reference to that school and couldn't think what it was.  All I could think of was Owal Woberts University.  I'm betting that's wrong.

  1. I've a family connection to one of the OWU places. One is the former Bartlesville Wesleyan College located in Oklahoma.

  2. Also Ohio Wesleyan University.
Both of the OWUs have a Wesleyan in their names.

  4. When one of the celebrants in our church had tongue surgery, for many Sundays I had to use all my willpower to not think of the marriage scene from " A Princess Bride" when the Gospel was read.

I also like Owal Woberts University, and will of course be mentioning this to my OWU family members. (Who are from one of those Wesleyan places rather than the Wobertian place)

I find it interesting that various places that could have been OWU, such as the Western University of London Ontario, which became University of Western Ontario (UWO), and then in 2012 just Western University (as if there are no others such named).

Oregon College of Education became Western Oregon College and then Western Oregon University, so WOU

  5. My sons are big on actual Wesleyans, having gone to Asbury. Probably more than the current attendees of universities with "Wesleyan" in the name, actually. Maybe they would have thought of one of those schools.

  6. I wonder if that could possibly be the Old University of Wassamatta, from Rocky & Bullwinkle fame. Which we all know fondly as Old Wassamatta U.

  7. Who reading that could fail to remember the Sanity Clause, which has to be removed from the contract because it doesn't exist.
