I thought it was evidence of the increasing ridiculousness of some of the Nobels and haven't paid much attention. But I think this may turn out well after all.
I suppose I should find something of his to link to. Something with the proper sense of irony.
I'm guessing the Nobel committee didn't know or understand Dylan when they voted for him. Bummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmer, mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
ReplyDeleteThe more I think about this, the happier I am about the whole thing. Conservatives have complained about both the literature and peace prizes being badly bestowed for years, focusing on it being a good prize, badly administered. Dylan did more damage to their reputation in five days. Which is, I suppose, related to what makes him an artist who always moved the dial, even when people hated it.
ReplyDeleteThe first I ever heard of him was, there was a concert at my U. It was supposed to be a big deal, and I'd never heard of him. (I didn't go.)
ReplyDeleteThis was always my favorite of Dylan's songs.
