A frequent contributor* who has far more familiarity with the insane regions of liberalism than I, sends this link from a site called Everyday Feminism (which seems to be the precise opposite) entitled Homonormativity 101. By turns irritating and amusing, it becomes eventually just sad. These are people for whom nothing can ever go right, trapped in resentment against all the others, who they believe are carefree and uncaring. There is a very CS Lewis Screwtape/Great Divorce/Last Battle air to this, with the doors of Hell all locked from the inside.
This came within the context of our discussion of what has happened to Jonathan Chait since he wrote his recent essay crying "enough already" to the continual faultfinders farther left than he is. Her observation:
"Either way, I do wonder if the left is going to eat itself rather soon.
From what I hear from many of my liberal friends who work for various
non-profits, it's getting rough. Even (relative redacted) said that (prominent liberal employer) was
taking weird heat for what it didn't address. All sorts of "well if you
really want to help poor people, you have to actually do LGBT rights
stuff, because many homeless teens are LGBT." But I just saw a friend
post an article about how white and attractive gay men were "silencing"
women and people of color by being front and center in that
movement....so it's not like going there helps. It's all kind of the
intersectionality issue I've been so annoyed with. Basically it's lots
of people proclaiming that you're not doing everything simultaneously.
Oh, and yelling about everything on Twitter = addressing it all.
Working to deeply/meaningfully address anything = look at all the things
you're not doing!!!"

The Leftist alliance was never built on consent and mutual philosophy to begin with. Many of their factional loyalties are diametrically opposed. The only thing holding them together is their greed for power, which Hussein Obola has stoked, perhaps more than they expected.
ReplyDeleteLike Iran and Cuba, the ruthless will come out on top, as usual. That will silence all those "Leftists are humans with hearts too" people eventually.
Your contributor: as well he should! He/she's in a nest of vipers!
ReplyDelete"That cult would never die till the stars came right again, and the secret priests would take great Cthulhu from His tomb to revive His subjects and resume His rule of earth. The time would be easy to know, for then mankind would have become as the Great Old Ones; free and wild and beyond good and evil, with laws and morals thrown aside and all men shouting and killing and revelling in joy. Then the liberated Old Ones would teach them new ways to shout and kill and revel and enjoy themselves, and all the earth would flame with a holocaust of ecstasy and freedom. Meanwhile the cult, by appropriate rites, must keep alive the memory of those ancient ways and shadow forth the prophecy of their return."
ReplyDeleteGag me with a maggot! I had to put up with that !@#$ from the PC types all thru seminary, instead of them concentrating on Scripture or learning how to give good pastoral care or preach decent sermons. Now that I'm an old fogey with grown hetero kids I can honestly say that there really are a LOT more important things in life than who one !@#$s. When my kids were teens, I used to embarrass them by saying "I don't want to pry, if you are not ready to talk about it, but if you ever find that you ARE attracted to someone of the same sex, just tell me and get it over with. I'm your mom, and was raised in a reactionary household but love you. Just remember, your love life is only a tiny aspect of who you are...."
ReplyDeleteIt isn't that I am frozen in carbonite like Hans Solo. I DID have 3 kids in 3 years so I'm not made out of marble and unable to remember the pleasures of being young and foolish. But I am so tired of people talking about their sexual preference. So vulgar. It's supposed to be PRIVATE. Do they think anyone is interested?
Here are a few of the things that, IMHO, matter at least as much about a person as who they take to bed and what they do there:
--whether they love God
--whether they earn an honest living
--do they love their country
--have they done anything to serve their country
--are they kind to strangers who are completely unrelated and unlike them
--do they act decently when nobody is looking and when there will be no consequences for being bad
--do they give sacrificially (OMG, I'm betraying myself, all these years in evangelical pews...)
--do they work hard, are they obedient to their superiors, and a reliable employee, even if they might at times gnash their teeth and think "I was made for better things"?
--are they good neighbours
--are they kind to animals
--do they show compassion to the sick and the disabled
--do they honour and care for elderly people (even unrelated ones)
--do they look after or neglect their own relatives
--are they faithful to their significant others
--do they sustain their friendships or flit from person to person
--are they sober or addicts?
--are they content with consumerist bread and circuses or do they think for themselves about their world?
--would they give up their life for someone else in a crisis (and not just their kid, even the publicans and sinners will do that)
--can they laugh at themselves? We bipeds are pretty ridiculous (and AVIs post on self-mockery hit the nail on the head)
Oh well, time to go do the dishes. Boring old mom.....
