...at Straw School in the 1960's. Except Miss Morse played the piano better than this. Note that even for performance, everyone has to read it off the card. Some few of us know the chorus. But no one - not since Miss Morse died - knows any of the verses anymore. I sort of know the first verse, and I may be the current record-holder. It's not like Texas, where, Ben tells me, preschoolers can hear the characteristic clapping and all launch into "Deep in the Haaaart of Texas!" on cue.
We are a modest people, perhaps. Or just don't like being bothered and made to perform.

Why, David, do I have no recall of singing that song? I fear my long term memory is seriously impaired...thanks for bringing this to my attention...yikes!

ReplyDeleteBarbara, realising how few people remember things is always an encouragement to me, as I have done so many embarrassing things in life that I am sure are the only things others remember. Such as kissing girls in fifth grade and then running away.
