I am reading
Planet Narnia, about which I will have much to say. One interesting quote:
Stephen Metcalf has shown some significant similarities between the later Lewis and the later Eliot. Of the earlier and (for Lewis) far more significant dissimilarities between the two writers we may find a convenient token in the following example of artistic license. Lewis was driven to Whipsnade in late September 1931, but says there were bluebells in flower at the time. Eliot was driven to Little Gidding in May 1936 but when it emerged in poetic form he had turned the event into winter.
Picked up the book a few years ago--heard the author speak for a college writer's conference just after his initial observations that turned into this book. We got a sneak peak/rough outline through his lecture and it piqued my curiosity enough to see the rest. Only got halfway through, though. Life has a way of putting books on hold for years for me. You'll have to let me know if it's worth finishing.
