I don't think this gets much play on oldies stations, though Snoopy's Christmas comes around occasionally in December each year. But the song was iconic at the time.
I played Snoopy in "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown" in high school. One of the many animal roles I got handed.
It is just possible that had you not posted this video, this song would have never again entered my conscious awareness. Thanks for bringing back a neglected slice of the 60s.
ReplyDeleteGreat! Just what I needed on Friday afternoon after a long week.
ReplyDeleteIf you recall the "Christmas swap" activities of grammar school, that is one of my memories of this song. In eighth grade, this song was a huge hit around Christmas. When the swap occurred, in a class of about 30 students, at least a half dozen received the same gift - the 45 of Snoopy vs. the Red Baron. Thanks for the memory.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteCan I just say that while I think casting you as Snoopy in YAGMCB is genius, I could see you in virtually *any* of the roles in that show. It is almost as it if were written for you.
You may be interested to note that we have the soundtrack of the recent revival and it is one of Hannah's favorites. She's never seen the show, but she has the score just about memorized.
By posting this video, are you attempting to discredit the boomers' "music was so much better in the '60s" mantra?
