Why do I still see so many Kerry or Kerry-Edwards stickers? Not that I never see a Bush-Cheney sticker, but they're rare. Is it just where I happen to be driving, or is there something different in the persistence of announcement between Republicans and Democrats? That election's long over, people.
Now a Dukakis sticker - that would impress me.
I have a "Win with Wilkie" button, should I start wearing it?
ReplyDeleteYou're in Massachusetts? You'd still be in danger.
ReplyDeleteOne might posit that Democrats tend to drive their cars until they have no resale value, while Republicans would not think of letting a bumper sticker depreciate their lower mileage vehicles. Like all generalizations, one would be mistaken, but still it gives one pause...
ReplyDeleteMay be. But swamp Yankees tend to run their vehicles into the ground, and they are rock-solid Republican. Solely because of the tax issue, of course, but still...
ReplyDeleteAnd yet, there is something to what you say.
And you spend more time with teachers. They're a huge Kerry/Edwards sticker group.
ReplyDeleteIn the 1970's, seeing a car with lots of stickers in front of you usually meant "religious fanatic in a cheap car." Now it is a virtual guarantee of a liberal with a compact car.
ReplyDeleteBut I do suspect there's a regional cast to that. When you think that your POV is just not being heard, and you want to attract like-minded others, you slap on the stickers.
