Newspapers (anywhere) are a little "scared" of printing anything that might be construed as insensitive or racist.
There are several groups that have found themselves welcomed and pushed away in these parts in the last five years: the Muslim community illegal immigrants and Katrina evacuees
Tension with the "unpapered" and the Katrina evacuees was largely created by the media and tied largely to crime rates in the city. The Muslim community has by far been treated the best of any, but they also don't make it onto the local news much at all here.
