The news isn’t all bad. The researchers also found that individuals who engage in more analytical thinking are somewhat immune to the reason-impairing effects of ideology. Admittedly, the impact of analytical thinking was modest and inconsistent. Still, the finding does show that reason can sometimes prevail.
Well, if that's the best I can hope for, it's still worth it to try.

It's interesting that through the middle there is less ability to handle right syllogisms. Even the "weakly to the right" group were slightly better with left syllogisms than right syllogisms.
It's also interesting that the best overall were the far right. They hit above .55 on right syllogisms, which I'd expect, but also above .50 for left syllogisms, whereas the far left was down around .45 for right syllogisms.
