For some reason a guy my age who refers to his wife as "my bride" just rubs me the wrong way. Is it just because it is a phrase that is out of fashion now, or is there something else in this that I'm not picking up?
On the one hand, I don't know where the time went since the wedding; sometimes it feels like yesterday. So, bride. OTOH, so much has happened in between that the view is cloudy. So, no. OTFirstH, the marriage was adventure into the unknown, and that's still the case, so, bride. OTOH, "bride" has connotations of inexperience, and life's put a lot on our plate since then. So, no. OTFH, young is conflated with beautiful, so for a compliment, bride OTOH, I love her more now than then, so no.

In some ways it seems fitting, others not.
