Not Actually a Cookie

Really Very Crunchy goes to a crunchy cookie party

We used to have a similar situation forty years ago when the boys started going to Montessori School. At parent conferences, cookies would be served.  Except these cookies had no sugar, nor even honey or maple syrup. "Maybe a little fruit juice for sweetening," they said.

They weren't cookies, they were biscuits.  Now I like biscuits and perhaps could have enjoyed these in another context, if I had been told right off that they were biscuits, and perhaps I could put some butter or jam on them. Alas, no butter or jam. Just ersatz cookies.
