Ruby Tuesday

Not quite what we came to expect from the Stone in later years, is it?  Very pop music, no bad boy overtones. Piano, double bass, recorder, harmony, nice melody.  The only thing familiar is that characteristic twisted hold on the microphone by Jagger.

IIRC, that came from their "imitate Sgt. Pepper" phase. The Stones mastered a number of musical genres. Dead Flowers- decadent country. To indicate how well the Stones mastered that genre, Townes Van Zandt did a cover of Dead Flowers. The Stones played Waylon Jenning's "Bob Wills Is Still the King" at a concert in Texas.

They used to do a lot of these: "As Tears Go by," "Lady Jane." Even later, "Angie" and "Wild Horses" are pretty tunes.
