Kids These Days

The 80's girl-groups all ran together for me back then, as I had children to watch and no TV. Popular culture was something one stumbled upon.  It is a great lesson, really, of how much of it will find you even if you have no set connection to it. I can tell them apart better now.* I prefer The Bangles, but this came up inexplicably in the sidebar and I watched it for the first time. Fun enough.

*Actually, I guess not.  Looking around for what else they did, I had them confused with the Go-Go's.

  1. I really liked the Go-Gos back when they first appeared and on after. That was back when MTV was really music tv and you could see what Belinda Carlisle could turn into but she was fun to watch along with the rest.

  2. There were actually two bands called the Go-Go's. There was another in Britain back in the Sixties, primarily known for a Christmas novelty song called "I'm Gonna Spend My Christmas with a Dalek" (which either anticipated or inspired the Humanized Daleks from "The Evil of the Daleks"). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuBJ5H9m3Sc

Oh, and about the Love Shack: https://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/building-code-violations-for-the-love-shack

  4. The Go-Gos aren't bad, but I do like the Bangles.

  5. That image for the video is creepy. She sings of a Love Shack, but in that picture she looks pre-teen. (not in video itself, fortunately)
I don't remember any of these groups.
