I wrote it because it surprised me and I didn't really understand it. Perhaps a physical therapist or physician can help us out on this. It was in the context of a corticosteroid shot, which if it did not relieve the pain would be somewhat diagnostic as to area of problem.

I could use a exegesis of this. Lots of moving parts in a shoulder.

Google seems to think the shoulder has four distinct joints.
There also are four different muscles involved in the rotator cuff.
Maybe the ortho meant one of these things.
