Summertime, and the livin' is easy.

I think we can all hear that song deriving from this one, more than a bit.




But how about this one? It's a Ukranian lullaby, and Gershwin apparently did hear it when a Ukranian chorus toured in 1926.

Paul Robeson went off the deep end in his politics, but what a voice!

I always thought Robeson's politics were a result of thwarted ambition. He could have had better treatment and more success in the US than he received. The Communists screamed to high heaven that they weren't like that and would never do that.

Laboring under an unfair burden can warp the thinking.
