And whoa! This is one of the commercials I referenced, redone for JAX beer. I wonder which one had it first?
Remember how the young female witness in the trial in To Kill a Mockingbird thinks Atticus Finch is making fun of her by using a courtly tone? But in that case, he's not imitating her, just treating her like a lady.

ReplyDeleteWhich came first- the Jax or the 'Gansett? No idea, but "are you making fun of me, burtender" was my favorite 'Gansett ad.
Fifty years after seeing it, I can still recite it by heart.
