Non-Complainers

"People who complain are just jolly, human Christian nuisances; I don't mind them.  But people who complain that they never complain are the devil.  They are really the devil; isn't that swagger of stoicism the whole point of the Byronic cult of Satan?" GK Chesterton

  1. I'm going to see the surgeon about rotator cuff issues tomorrow. I can't complain; a colleague's bike seat broke off two weeks ago and he broke his clavicle in two places.

  2. Ha. One of the ways I connect with my father is complaining. He complains about some ailment and I respond by telling I know what he means since I inherited that ailment from him.

We bond further by comparing medications and doctors who just don't understand what we're talking about.

    Complaining is a social activity.

  3. OK... I must add that my (and my father's) view of complaining requires that one reach a certain age that is several years older than what AARP considers eligible for membership.

  5. I'm getting my share of posted Chesterton quotes this week! A college friend is a freelance editor (Aurora Writing & Editing) & she's currently working on a collection of the Father Brown stories, The Wisdom of Father Brown.
