Cultural Change

This is apparently uproariously funny to a segment of young people.  It doesn't work for me - but I can perceive at a distance how this parody of current cliches is funny, and I chuckle at a few places (the rolling drum, for example). I notice their competence, and how they can do the style they are parodying well.  It's rather like watching Monty Python and the Holy Grail:  you see very quickly that they could not have parodied the genre if they didn't fully sympathise with it, and you would like to see what they would have done if they played it straight.

They weren't fully committed. They did not smash their instruments at the end.

I was expecting a Devo parody.

I have no idea what they were parodying--haven't paid attention since about '84. And Yes! they are good at it.

The kiss I totally expected.

And dub? They smashed before the end.

This will be hard to do in concert.

Don't know if you all caught this, but this wasn't actually Mumford & Sons band members, but old SNL & comedy movie guys: Jason Sudeikis, Jason Bateman, Ed Helms & Will Forte. Interesting concept for this particular band. I found it "cute" but certainly not "uproariously funny."
